Dan Cappello, Jr. & Cherries Hanover
Dan Cappello Jr has been going back and forth in the driver standings for the past few weeks at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway between the second and third spots. Cappello has been alternating weeks in second with Billy Dobson as they both sit quite a ways behind leading driver Frank Coppola Jr. Cappello moved closer to second on Wednesday night as the driving veteran piloted four winners to lifetime marks on the card. After starting the night with a winner while sitting behind freshman pacer Boathouse Row in 1:57.4, Cappello would secure victories with Crosswinds Rose and Cherries Hanover before taking the evening’s finale with Jaguar. Crosswinds Rose posted a career best win, clocking the mile in 1:56 while Cherries Hanover shook her seconditis to become a winner for the first time since coming to Saratoga earlier this year. Cherries Hanover’s win of 1:59.2 marked a lifetime best for the four year old Paul Kulls Jr trainee. Cappello book ended the program, taking the finale behind a wire to wire score with claiming trotter Jaguar who trotted to an ultra impressive 1:57.3 mark. Dobson had two wins on the Wednesday card to stay neck in neck with Cappello in the standings.
Live racing continues on Thursday night at Saratoga with a first post time set for 7:20pm.
